As a Registered Nurse at 1st Line Oncology, Melissa is responsible for overseeing all radiation oncology nursing unit activities. In addition, she provides ongoing support for the center’s physicians, patients, families, and staff members. Melissa earned a B.S. of Science in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida, summa cum laude. She also earned a second B.S. in Nursing through the Accelerated BSN program at Florida Atlantic University where she graduated cum laude. Melissa’s prior nursing experience in the cardiovascular and open heart arena has helped her to deal with the sensitive nature of cancer treatment and care. She is particularly interested in detection, prevention and survivorship for cancer patients. Melissa believes patient education is critical and she focuses on imparting her knowledge to every patient, every day.
