Abdon J. Medina is a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist and a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (F.A.C.R.O.). He received his medical degree from the University of Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Spain and completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami where in his final year he served as the Chief Resident. He was trained in various methods of Brachytherapy (thoracic, gynecological, prostate and head and neck tumors) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery, when most other residency programs in the United States were not using such techniques.

After he completed his residency program, he joined the faculty of the University of Miami as an Instructor and then an Assistant Professor. There he was responsible for teaching residents in the radiation oncology program as well as lecturing to medical students. He co-authored several articles and was a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

In 1989, Dr. Medina began his private practice in Broward County and has resided here for 19 years. He served as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology for the Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center at Holy Cross Hospital. He is extremely dedicated to his career and his patients, always looking for ways to improve the treatment of cancer. This philosophy brought him to 1st Line Oncology, where he joined the staff in 2010.

Dr. Medina’ s passion for cancer treatment may only be surpassed by his devotion to his family, wife Ellen and son Michael, as well as his extended family throughout Broward and Dade Counties.  

He is a highly respected member of the Broward County Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Florida Radiological Society, Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, American Medical Association, American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American College of Radiation Oncology, American College of Radiology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Brachytherapy Society and the Radiological Society of North America.
